Fly fishing for trout - a biologist's point of view with Brian Chan
Fishing Fy
Good news! Now you can listen to the interview Brian Chan href = "http://www.askaboutflyfishing.com/speakers/brian-chan/brian-chan.cfm"> biologist point of view on a fly fishing for trout. We interviewed Brian this week and show was a great success. A lot of listeners sent their questions, but because the show was only 90 minutes, Brian was not able to respond everything. Well, do not worry because we have scheduled a second part of the interview and we will try to fit all your questions.
A fisheries biologist is well versed in the ways of trout and how and where to catch them. Brian spent his career managing recreational fisheries for trout, worked on habitat protection and management plans for several lakes.
He said that the trout are generally found in eutrophic lakes. These are the lakes that are shallow and usually we have intermittent or no inputs or outputs, which means they have low rates of washing. The soils and geology around you make them rich in nutrients to grow insect to fish.
Brian spoke on various topics including other alkaline and acidic lakes, spring and winter turnovers, thermocline, the sources major food for trout, and lots of other things.
